The Jetour T2 Has Become One of South Africa’s Best-Selling Cars, and It Is Only Getting Started
With over 4 000 units sold since its October 2025 launch and 1,004 vehicles moved in April 2026 alone, the Jetour T2 has become the eighth-best-selling passenger car in South Africa, and local production is already on the horizon.
When Jetour introduced the T2 Adventure SUV to the South African market in October 2025, the expectation was that it would perform well.
What followed surpassed even those expectations.
In less than seven months, the T2 has accumulated more than 4 000 cumulative sales and claimed a position among the country’s top ten best-selling passenger vehicles, outselling established names at a considerably higher price point.
According to the latest Naamsa industry sales data, the Jetour T2 sold 1 004 units in April 2026, its highest monthly tally to date.
This placed it eighth among all passenger cars sold in South Africa and eleventh overall when light commercial vehicles such as the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, and Isuzu D-Max are included in the count.
“These April results reflect a significant increase on the already strong March performance of 646 units for the Jetour T2, particularly given that the model only launched in South Africa in October last year,” the company said in an official statement.
“We always knew the Jetour T2 would be a strong seller, given the international success of the model across multiple regions. Its value proposition, design, technology and overall appeal positioned it well from the start, but these sales have truly exceeded our expectations,” added Jetour South Africa Vice President, Nic Campbell.
Strong Sales in a Tough Market
The April figures are particularly notable given the operating environment.
Rising fuel prices, broader economic uncertainty, and a shortened trading month all created headwinds for the South African new vehicle market during the period.
The T2’s performance in spite of these conditions points to strong underlying demand rather than a short-term spike.
The T2’s monthly sales are approaching those of the Suzuki Fronx and Toyota Corolla Cross, both of which sell for considerably less.
The Fronx starts at R303 900 and the Corolla Cross at R420 700, making the T2’s performance at R569 900 all the more significant.
Against direct Adventure SUV rivals, the T2 and its smaller sibling, the T1, also give real value, with the Toyota Fortuner starting at R685 900, the Isuzu mu-X at R752 300, and the Ford Everest at R953 000.
What the Jetour T2 Offers
The T2 is available in four trim levels with three powertrain options.
The entry-level Aspire uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 125kW and 270Nm paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and front-wheel drive.
The Xplora and Odyssey step up to a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol with 180kW and 375Nm, connected to Jetour’s XWD Intelligent all-wheel-drive system.
At the top of the range, the newly introduced i-DM PHEV combines the 1.5-litre engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 265kW and 610Nm.
The 18.4kWh battery provides up to 90km of electric-only driving range, making it a particularly relevant option at a time of sustained fuel price pressure.
Standard equipment across the range includes 19-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, keyless entry and start, dual-zone climate control, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, and a 15.6-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety and driver assistance features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot detection, a 540-degree camera system, and hill descent control depending on trim level. Every T2 is backed by a 7-year/200 000km vehicle warranty, a 7-year/75 000km service plan, and a 10-year/1-million kilometre engine warranty for the first owner.
Local Production Confirmed
A further development likely to bolster the T2’s long-term prospects in South Africa is the confirmation of local vehicle assembly.
At the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, Jetour International President Mr Ke Chuandeng announced that the company plans to assemble vehicles at Chery’s new South African factory, following Chery’s acquisition of Nissan’s Gauteng plant.
Local production of the T-Series is expected to begin in 2027.
